You know that Taxi is the same in every language?

It's true. It's always means the same thing.

"You will be paying too much for this ride, on which you will be risking your own life, and you will never have the option for it when you need one."

Drinking problem?

Hey, Bartender, Can You Break $1,000? - New York Times: "'It was the best 950 bucks I ever spent,' Mr. Santiago said. 'Let's put it that way.'"

The $950 was actually for...

wait for it...

wait for it...

A single drink. In a martini glass. Wow.

The audacity.

The teen who would be mayor

Democracy in action...

I blogged about this before, now the Times has picked it up. The 18-year old mayor of Hillsdale, Michigan, running a city before he can even drink legally. Gotta love it.

Strike 2.

Deadline looming, no agreement.

Who's playing the Grinch this year?

Italy, Czech Republic, Ghana

Tough draw for the US. We'll have to beat at least one of the two European clubs, both of which are great, and best Ghana, to advance.

Wait...maybe there IS such a thing as global climate change. If not warming.

U.S., Under Fire, Eases Its Stance in Climate Talks

I'd love to think that my previous post made the difference here. But I'd be wrong. Nice that science is finally getting through the thick skulls in Washington, if only because an election year is coming, and the news has reached England that their mild winters are soon to be a thing of the past.

Who said video games wouldn't pay?

There is no such thing as global warming, There is no such thing as global warming, There is...

There is no such thing as global warming, There is no such thing as global warming, There is no such thing as global warming, There is no such thing as global warming, There is no such thing as global warming, There is no such thing as global warming, There is no such thing as global warming, There is no such thing as global warming, There is no such thing as global warming.

Except, maybe there is...

Check out the area in the upper left of the ice cap, that borders that top of Russia. All together now...

There is no such thing as global warming. There is no such thing as global warming. There is no such thing as global warming. There is no such thing as global warming. There is no such thing as global warming. There is no such thing as global warming. There is no such thing as global warming. There is no such thing as global warming.

Oryx and Crake: Margaret Atwood

Amazon.com: Used and New: Oryx and Crake: Margaret Atwood

I just finished Oryx and Crake, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Somewhere between the post-apocalyptic vision of the future and the careful crafting of the characters, Ms. Atwood creates a work of intensity that is remarkable both in breadth of the subject matter and the emotional content of the topics.

This book is a quick read, but so much of it merit rereading that you'll find yourself covering the same passage repeatedly, so fine is the writing and imagery.

Highly recommended.

Lofty Promise of Saturn Plant Runs Into G.M.'s Fiscal Reality - New York TimesWhat;

Now this is kind of sad. I drive a Saturn, you see, and I really like it. It's my second one, the first one still running great at 190k+ miles.

What's screwed about this scenario is that it's like everyone's standing around fretting, when if they had stopped for a minute during the SUV boom of the past few years, looked at the fundamentals of gasoline/oil, and the direction that inevitability was taking things, and changed Saturn to be the hybrid automobile leader in the American market, this could have been avoided.

But then again, no one could have predicted that the water would have topped those walls...

It all started on a bus...

For Rosa Parks: "In New York, empty seats were marked with posters of her reading, ''It All Started on a Bus,'' and bus drivers were keeping headlights on all day."
