Saw this link on Dailykos, thought it would be good to pass on.

Plane Landing

Oil Prices Jump as Hurricane Rita Nears

Oil Prices Jump as Hurricane Rita Nears: "The National Hurricane Center says is likely to hit the heart of US oil production."

Rita is heading right towards the middle of the largest concentration of oil refineries in the US.

It's like she knows something... like maybe if we didn't burn so much oil, this place wouldn't be getting so hot, and these monster storms wouldn't be happening.

Then again, maybe it's just coincidence. Who knows? What's good or bad?

Brooklyn Soil Going for 1/2 Price!

...when you're planning to build an arena, at least.

You have to love when a cash-strapped and irresponsible agency sells property for half of what it's worth.

But - then again, all those great jobs! And maybe ever a few will go to Brooklyn residents...

Hey, who knows what's good or bad?

Google Earth - No one can ever be lost again

Google Earth - Home

When we visited Ireland 3 years ago, the rental car person smiled, handed us the keys to our Opel, and said, "I hope you get more lost."

Now, with Google Earth, an internet connection, and a decent computer, you'll never get lost again. This is pretty cool stuff.

Who knows what's good or bad?

What's in your resume?

Discrepancies Found on FEMA Chief's History - New York Times

Everyone's probably done it - that small embellish on the resume that made it seem like they were managing something "big", or they were an expert at something that they had used a few times.

But if you're in charge of the nation's disaster agency, don't you think you'd be careful about what you claimed to have done?

Police Begin Seizing Guns of Civilians - New York Times

Police Begin Seizing Guns of Civilians - New York Times: "Police Begin Seizing Guns of Civilians"

And then, of course:

A well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.

The contradictions continue...

Convoys bring relief to New Orleans / General Honore

CNN.com - Convoys bring relief to New Orleans - Sep 2, 2005: "[General] Honore said getting food and water to the people at the convention center was difficult. 'If you ever have 20,000 people come to supper, you know what I'm talking about,' the general said. 'If it was easy, it would have been done already.'

CNN's Barbara Starr, who is traveling with the three-star general, said Honore is 'very determined to keep this looking like a humanitarian relief operation.' (See the mayor's order to stop the talking and send soldiers to help -- 1:00)

'A few moments ago, he stopped a truck full of National Guard troops ... and said, 'Point your weapons down, this is not Iraq,' ' Starr reported."

CNN.com - Major developments - Sep 2, 2005: "Asia-Pacific nations including tsunami-battered Sri Lanka promised Friday to send money and disaster relief experts to the United States to help deal with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina."
