Happy Birthday to me...

Thanks to everyone who sent birthday wishes. We spent the weekend out of the city on a nice little retreat.

Now, back to the music.

We have sacrificed the moral high ground.

In U.S. Report, Brutal Details of 2 Afghan Inmates' Deaths - New York Times

YES, I realized I wasn't going to write political entries anymore, that being the province of other, more well-informed bloggers. But this article, front page of the Gray Lady, can't be ignored, and needs to be shared, and read, and contemplated.

The Newsweek fiasco, which more and more smells like something rotten in many ways, in completely blown away by this story. It is hard to imagine the depth of the lack of consciousness on the part of the everyone involved in this, from those shackling people to walls, to those sending the orders, all the way to water-cooler vigilantes demanding justice from over here.

So, in the shadow of filibusters, feeding tubes, pop star trials, stem cells, and whatever else crowds the current minds of the people, maybe this will make no impact. Or maybe it actually will start to seep into the consciousness of this country that the "brand" of the Stars and Stripes is something to be feared.

But, hey, freedom's on the march, right?

Ouch...

Now this is a little strange. Man sues woman for breaking his penis.

No, seriously.

"So what does your band sound like?"

Gumby!

Gumby is 50. An over-the-hill claymation pioneer. Davey and Goliath are having their diamond anniversary next week.

Get your used copy of East...

Crazy...there are a couple of people selling used copies of my album, East.

I guess I should feel good about it. Although, why anyone would buy the album for almost $16 used when it's available over at CDBaby for $10 is beyond me. You might ask why it's $18 new at Amazon...? If you knew what a pain it is to sell there, and how big a bite they take from every sale, you'd know.

Some more pictures from the Canal Room show can be found on my friend Ted's blog.

Live from the Canal Room...

So this is the first track from the Canal Room show, and my first attempt at PodCasting. The file is about 5 megs, so hopefully that isn't too much of a downer. Enjoy!

Bottle of Red...

...whatever kind of mood you're in tonight. Or at least on Wednesday night.

I'm playing a new weekly residence show on the East Side, at the wonderful Italian restaurant Il Sogno.

The place is on 39th Street between 2nd and 3rd Aves, next to the EastGate Hotel. Wednesday nights from 8 PM to 10PM, you can find me here.

Gates vs. iPod

"I think you can draw parallels here with the computer — here, too, Apple was once extremely strong with its Macintosh and graphic user interface, like with the iPod today, and then lost its position."

OK...right...

Great, since I just bought one, finally...

Stupid Criminals...

You can't make this stuff up. What a moron... Man steals car, drives it around for 2 weeks, owner sees it, has it towed, thief calls police to report "his" car stolen, gets collared.

Something in the water in Baltimore?
