Lofty Promise of Saturn Plant Runs Into G.M.'s Fiscal Reality - New York TimesWhat;

Now this is kind of sad. I drive a Saturn, you see, and I really like it. It's my second one, the first one still running great at 190k+ miles.

What's screwed about this scenario is that it's like everyone's standing around fretting, when if they had stopped for a minute during the SUV boom of the past few years, looked at the fundamentals of gasoline/oil, and the direction that inevitability was taking things, and changed Saturn to be the hybrid automobile leader in the American market, this could have been avoided.

But then again, no one could have predicted that the water would have topped those walls...
